Aliken Doom, PrologueA Story by BlankPaigeThe Assassin (from another angle)Aliken slipped from behind the heavy tapestry that completely covered the bed chambers north wall. His padded leather boots made only the slightest muffled sound as he inched his way slowly closer to the sleeping figure on the bed. An almost inaudible snoring from beneath heavy covers made of the finest silks and satins from ports around the world. Aliken slipped a sliver of wood no more than two inches in length from somewhere under his floorlength black cloak. He was careful not to allow any part of his skin or even his clothing to touch the tiny tipped end where he had dipped it in the poison. Hours from now the city would be in utter chaos as the militia turned it inside out and upside down in search of the Assassin that had taken the life of the Duke in his own bedchamber. Aliken planned to be long gone before those events began to unfold. © 2010 BlankPaigeAuthor's Note
