The Signs

The Signs

A Poem by Joshua W. Harris
"

The product of finding another human being whom seems to be able to see to the deepest parts of my mind and heart without opening them. Something I have never known.

"
This is just the very start,
I can hear the whisper from within.
For every time I see her eyes, my heart begins to spin.
This is but the simplest step,
Toward what I do desire.
There is no flint or tinder that could set my soul on fire.

No matches spent, nor fuel been poured,
To light this inner blaze.
No words have meant, so much before,
As they have in recent days.

No matter if it's just the start,
There's so much more to come.
When I close my eyes, I feel her hands,
They lace into mine as one.
The smallest step can break your back,
When made in frightful haste.
But with every single one I take,
I've found my rightful place.

No doubt has come, no fear has spread,
And crushed me from inside.
Instead the sum, of all things said,
Have brought such happiness, I've cried.

To know the one who reaches past,
The bricks and stones you've set.
The one who grasps the very last,
Thing anyone could get.
To know the person meant to know,
Every secret, and every tale.
The one who will not turn and go,
Who's kindness never fails.

The one who, even though you have not made a single sound,
Can understand your heart and mind, is a gift quite rarely found.
Hold it dear and hold it strong,
For its precious beyond years.
These million signs, can't all be wrong,
And it is them who led me here.
