Devil's DayA Poem by Joshua W. Harris
I beseech you darkness: please, do stay,
Twixt the echoes in the passageway. The sounds here bounce, and toy, and play, Till all is bound by slow decay. I ask you: please, don't leave me here, Alone with all these creatures queer. In tunnels dark, they are revered, A thought to issue pangs of fear. For when the lights to flicker on, And even darkness has all gone. I will be left bathed by the dawn, None can stand against His brawn. The creatures hidden, now do flee, Away they run, and so do we. The light evokes the killing spree, Of all my kin and family. The demons leave--are banished now, As perspiration soaks my brow. The heat of sun can not be cowed, By us who do forsake our vow. The angels fall like drops of rain, As the darkness here does wax and wane. The judgement call is rather plain, The kingdom high now rules again. The war has ended--darkness quelled, Those of broken oaths all fell. I am the first, I sound the knell, For now I am the Lord of Hell.
