Internal Memo

Internal Memo

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

I find myself asking
Will you ever understand
All the things on my mind
Trials and tribulations of my soul
Can you hear the broadcast
Of all the things not said

Looking over the cliff
Too afraid to jump
Tongue tied and unable to fly
In my mind the answers are in your eyes
But I'm too shy to look up
Too weary to inch closer
And just let go into the possibility
That expression is the key to my serenity

If only I could borrow a shoulder or two
Arms to hold and comfort
A sweet whisper to soothe the whirlwind thoughts
And a kiss to seal my salvation
Release the reservations, emotions held in
Feel the weight wash away
Feel the pain subside

Self dialogue
The perpetual motion machine to nowhere
Nothing resolved only theorized, hoped for
Hoping to hear inner voices more positive
Telling me to charge forward, reach out
Praying for that sensation to bring me higher
Over the cowards miserable comfort
To say those things outside normalcy status quo
Show the broken side, the imperfection
Weaken walls and guard let down
In the comfort of someone who's true
And I wonder could that person be you
