Starlight Fades

Starlight Fades

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Looking out into the night sky
Spotting Orion's Belt and wondering
If you ever look up into the night and thought
About all those under the moon and stars
We were everything we always wanted

Our love was drawn tight and aimed true
Like the stars of Orion's celestial bow
We shined in the night, we faded into the day
We stood true in the times we shimmered in the sky

I guess the light was just for the distant observer
Because even as the world looked to see us as a bright constellation
We were two dying stars who long ago sent their light to the world
And as they marvel in it's majesty, we'll know long before
That there is nothing but empty space in the sky
Where we once shined so bright
