If OnlyA Poem by Blake Q HatfieldAbout mamihlapinatapai
Shy stares across the room
Wondering if the other feels the pull Of something other than the power of glancing eyes Could it be a moment for greatness Could it be a moment to cherish forever Or another moment lost to time She always wanted to find a modern day prince Old fashioned with egalitarian principles Someone to show her the strength in his gentle kiss Be that dashing intellect with humorous wit "But could it be that easy" she thought He desired an equal, with the grace of the goddess Athena Someone who was feminine and self confident A love that could show him the serenity in a passionate heart Be a beauty who's inner self radiates to the outer self "Could there be someone that true" he wondered Eyes locked in sporadic gazes Friends perplexed by their trailing attention Challenges and offers laid on the table But the fears of the past keep their curiosity at bay Wanting nothing more than to find that special one Needing to reach out and figure out if they're true But hoping patiently that the other will be the hero As the days pass, they wonder about those gazes Could there be something to them Is this coyness the chain keeping love at bay Will their shy natures be blinders to destiny In their nightly prayers they hope and pray For a definite sign from the object of their fascination But perhaps such a stance is for fools If only they had the courage to ponder that © 2011 Blake Q HatfieldAuthor's Note
