Merry Mary

Merry Mary

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Merry Mary will never return
Merry Mary won't come back again
Merry Mary will never return
Merry Mary was never there

I told her all I wanted
I told her all of my cares
Put her hand in my heart
Placed her soul in my mind
I wonder if she was ever mine
Merry Mary where did you go
Merry Mary, I loved you so

It's hard to rely on your own instinct
When you turn it off to think
About the smile of Merry Mary
And how she made life so divine
Ignoring the flags and warnings
Let your soul go into her eyes
Merry Mary had a magnetic hold

Oh Merry, Merry Mary
Why did you leave me, why did you pretend
That we were more than what we were
I thought we were two hearts beating as one
With a fools eye, I though you'd always be true
Merry Mary left a hole in my heart

Merry Mary, I'm not mad, I'm not crazy
I've come to terms with your games
I was just a pawn to sacrifice for your entertainment
And as I wish and hoped for this to be that
Fairytale you were cruelly singing in my ear
But I've come to realize
Merry Mary was never there
