Let Go (Even When You Can't)

Let Go (Even When You Can't)

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Sever ties and let go
Sometimes it's the only way
To make things better

The wounds will remain open and tender
Until the mind can make amends and open its eyes
To see the truth is only secondary to believing
Suppression will only cause a downfall infection
Of living in illusion and fabricated stories

Holding on to what's already done, never true
Will leave you lost in thought
Always wondering, always hoping for something
An answer, explanation, another chance
To go back to the moment where it worked
Or erase it all from the mind

No matter how much you hide
Your feeling and emotions will be chaos
In the wake of deep wounded heart beats
No glass full and tall enough
No plate heavy or big enough
Nothing soothes scars covered in honest tears
When you still live in the loop of your decay

Sever ties and let go
No matter how sweet and vital things may have been
This season that fruit is sour poison
Break and let the pain flow in
Believe what is true, feel it's validity
To help your mind wake and open its eyes
So you can walk on to a better day
