A Date With You

A Date With You

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

Asking someone out

"
So many things I want to say
So many things I want to do
Just to show you I care
But I'm afraid of my nature
The trappings of being too kind
And all the times I bothered to care before

Can I take you out for a romantic dinner for two
Perhaps to a show and a walk on the sand
With no expectation on either side
Except to enjoy the night

Would it be ok if I brought you flowers
Told you just how beautiful you are
And hold your hand like we did in days of youth

If I could be so bold, I'd like to put my all into
A wonderful date with you
To be generous, perhaps lavish, yet sincere
Just to make you smile and nothing more

You are a vision of beauty and elegance
My desire to know you burns like the center of the sun
To understand the things that make you happy
Be your jester and your prince
And we see something more
Always be there to wipe away your tears

I'm not expecting everything from this moment in time
Just a moment to spend getting to know you
No expectations or implementations
Except just enjoying the night and simple conversation
