Whiskey Lullabye

Whiskey Lullabye

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

One more sip and the world is better
One more taste and everything is quieter
One more to weather this sad storm
One more reason to keep living life

Dance with me my friend
A whiskey tango off three sheets to the wind
A far better time than drier, darker days
I don't need the sun anymore
The bottle will do just fine

A whiskey lullaby
It rocked to sleep last night
I did dream, I did not stir
For once I had that lack worry as I rested my bones
A whiskey lullaby never says a word
It just helps you deal and get to the next episode

One more drink to reach beyond the harsh day
One more shot to quiet the worry down
One more to forget how much my heart aches
One more for all the mistakes and broken trust
One more for all the times I believed

Sing to me sweet and smokey
Sway me like the field of grain
Fuel me like the strong pete
Gently rock me with a whiskey lullaby
So I may sleep and learn to forget
Every reason I've sipped away
