Sweet to Sour

Sweet to Sour

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Her kisses were once sweet and warm
With the power to move me like the sun
But they became so sour and cold
Like a ghost of a long lost friend
The thought of it makes me shiver still

I could recall a time I was happy she was mine
I was king of the whole dam world
Everything was so right, I told myself it was so right
But sometimes, no matter how much you want it, you're just wrong

She was the sweetest thing to ever grace creation
I could swear the angels sang when she smiled
But that light was only fire and I the fool's fuel
With a pitchfork strike to the heart she pierced my soul
With the hook of her charm she tore my world apart
She made all that was sweet sour, she broke my heart

Not much is colder than the feeling of loss
The darkness in the void, the connection once there gone
Everything you thought was true has been proven wrong
The ghost turn to demonic specters shadows of things that use to matter
And when you reach back, when you reminisce
You think of the taste of that once sweet kiss
Morning the loss of it's once vibrant power
For now it has gone from sweet to sour
