...but Have You Let Jesus In?

...but Have You Let Jesus In?

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

You say to me "let Jesus in, end your life of sin"
Hand pointed to me as cold as an executioner's axe
You think of me as a lost soul
Yearning for your absolution and salvation

Can you see beyond your own clouded view
Can you feel beyond the tower walls you're in
Can you really see me and my soul

I let Jesus in long ago
His love is inside my soul
With each moment of joy, celebration, sorrow and pain
I live life to have fun and love
In every drink of the cup and carefree move
I give thanks just to be

So don't come down on me if I can control
The desires that you tightrope walk
With fear of the taste of reality
I can't live with my head buried in the weight
Of prohibitional fear and weak wills

Were it not for the passion and pain
We would not have salvation and serenity
Jesus is in ever note of my love and lust for life
My only true sin is letting your judgmental words crack a break in my joy

Someday you will see that Jesus is my savior
Someday you'll understand I praise him in every joy
Jesus let me in long ago
And I celebrate this life in thankful praise
For Jesus letting me be me

I was thinking this would be a religion bashing poem. Well it kinda is bashing the "lost soul" crap we hear a lot from Christians, but still this piece was very good. Well done.
