Phobetor's Song

Phobetor's Song

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

I'm lonely as can be
Trying to be the man I've always wanted to be
It's leaving me broke and broken
Than truly satisfied
By holding on to half truths and believing lies
I have the heart of a champion
But the eyes of the sucker

I can't distinguish true fact from desired fiction
Or phrases meant to fool the champion in me
Because I always fall into the dreamer's dream
The hope that maybe someone could love
Or even care to be the one
The light I hope will shine on me
But in the back of my mind I keep telling myself
It's only a dream
