You're Not the Only One

You're Not the Only One

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Get off your cross
No one is buying it
Stop calling for your death
You are no martyr
Stop calling with your woe is me
You're not the only one

I know this might come as a surprise to you
But the world doesn't revolve around you
There are other people, there are other hearts
You don't need to be so cruel
You don't need to be so selfish
You don't need to be so rude
Open your eyes and realize
You're not the only one

People don't respond to stuck up crusaders
Especially when they act like the world is against them
When it's clearly a case of life imitating reality
Others struggle, others overcome, others suffer
Give this pity party a break, no one's coming
Trying to crush others might seem to curb your pain
But it only makes you more of a lesser being
You're not the only one

You don't have to sacrifice for the whole world
But you should realize that you are not it's star
To be cruel and callous is not the way
The dramatic should be left for stage and screen
So don't be so self absorbed
So don't be so low
So don't be so indignant
You are not the only one

Gosh, this is an angry piece. It makes me wonder who it is aimed at but it is wonderfully written and conveys your feelings perfectly.
