Luke and Lorelei

Luke and Lorelei

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

I'm a big fan of the Gilmore Girls

Luke and Lorelei
I can't say goodbye
To ballad of Luke and Lorelei

There she goes on the square
The wind blowing in her raven hair
When she smiles the sun shines and clouds go away
You'd swear that her eyes are the answer to your world

Here stands the noble Luke
A true and true friend and confidant
Always there to clear her tears away
He pines to be one who calls her home
His heart is guarded except when she smiles
It gives him the strength of the hero

The stars shine the Stars Hollow sky
A small town with a big love story
All caught up in the anticipation
Of the moment that they realize that they were meant to be
So many close calls before
So many times their ships have passed each other by
So many times we thought they'd be one
But we never gave up on the dream

And just when the end came
We saw all that we were waiting for
The were granted sight to see we've always known
In each other they will always have a home
A love you can see deep in their eyes
So goes on the ballad of Luke and Lorelei

Author's Note

Blake Q Hatfield
I wrote this after finally getting a chance to see the final episode of Gilmore Girls. It's kind of a tribute to the always complicated relationship of Luke and Lorelei. I thought the show was well done, a very wholesome show. Some show that try to tone things down fail, but this one was just itself. The characters had their flaws, but they were realistic for the most part, not overdramatic like many shows we see today. It was the last of the down to earth shows that came from the old WB.
