Peace and Chaos

Peace and Chaos

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

About the world today

"

Sometimes I can see
The swaying and smiling tree
And hear their whispers in the wind
I can feel nature, I can feel heaven near
I am in the time of serenity

Peace and love abound as we play
No one know what the word worry means
Lions lying with lambs
And the wolves have gone away forever
And no one sheds a tear

Sometimes I can see
The desperation and misery
Crabs in a barrel pulling you down
Stabs to the back and lies to your face
The pain of loss, the fear of hate
Chaos is king, with discord as his queen

Rage and fear all around
No one can quantify what security and comfort is
The lambs have all gone from here
Torn at the bone by wolves and vulture thieves
No heroes, no saviors to bring relief
The soul so drain you can't even shed a tear

Sometimes I wake to a nightmare
Sometimes I wake to a dream
The hope a people so together yet far apart
Some days I feel a sense of pride
Others I wish we'd never breed
The race human splinter at the seems
Fighting over small differences
From the forgotten millennia long ago

Glimpses of solidarity shine through the hate
Attempts to make this world whole
Unity and solidarity, attempts to break the walls down
To realize different is not difference
Just another point of view

Sometimes I see the greatness in humankind
Sometimes I see the hate it can breed
What will be of this world
Caught between the need for love and hate
Will there be peace in the end
Or will hate bring it all down

Author's Note

Blake Q Hatfield
Peace to me is something that is attainable on smaller levels. We need to start with our neighbors, cut ourselves away fromthe larger picture. It is our idiotic need to cling to old ways and old hate that keep us from feeling true solidarity. We must realize that the differences we have should not separate us, but be something that we can share with the world at large. We cannot fear those that are different, but try to understand them. There is an underlying morality to the world, thus those oppose to respecting "the right of all sentiant beings." to quote Optimus Prime (I know, cartoon, but wise), are not on the side of peace, and thus are the roadblocks we must overcome. We are the key to change, true change, not just retorical banter. Peace is out there, we just have to try.
