What Is Heaven

What Is Heaven

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

My thoughts on the concept of Heaven

"

When they take you to Heaven
Will you be ready to bear His cross
When you get to Heaven
Will you accept His forgiveness
As he defends your life to the assembled holy choir
And will you be sincere in your repentant love
When the Lords says “welcome home my child”

All our lives we try to see in a straight line
But our wisdom is skewed by all the hurt and misery we find
We fall and we rise
Sometimes we can’t even tell the difference between sin and salvation
We try to be good, but sometime we are blind to God’s Love
But in the here and now we must try
To show Her the love She shines on us

And when you think of Heaven
Do you see a conscious paradise
No lies, no hate, none of the insignificant difference
Do you see us as one, at home and loved
The Creator, Mother and Father, Brother and Sister
Our salvation, our home, our love
Now can you see those things in those you hold dear
In the eyes of your child
In your neighbor, your dog, your backyards
Your world is God’s Eternal Love

So when you think of Heaven
You don’t always have to look to the sky
You can find examples all around
Even on those dark days you can’t imagine it exist
So take stock of all your blessings
Take stock of all your loves
Because you find in them Heaven
Long before you make it above

Sometimes we can find Heaven in the places we'd never expect. This was influenced by the Counting Crows song "Rain King"

Nice Job. Well written one thing was exist supposed to be exists? It had a wonderful message if only more people would realize all those things that show heaven is indeed showing itself on earth. Nice work.

You are correct, Heaven can be found in the simple things...like nature.
This is a beautiful commentary to that, and sometimes we even forget to look.

Definitely a different perspective on heaven, Blake. All the bearing of the cross for me is done on earth. That is one reason I look forward to heaven. No more sickness, dying, hate, war, evil....I plan to bask in the beauty of the Lord in perfect love, joy, and peaceful abundance!

Very nice piece. Its true, in a world such as ours, sometimes we don't see those little pieces of heaven. But they are there. Every now and then we'll see something truly amazing, truly breathtaking, that just shouts out to us and screams the glory of God. Lovely job. :-)
