New Years Eve Blues

New Years Eve Blues

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

About my expierence in the past few New Years. I've spent one trying to save someone (nothing like running a few blocks during the last few minutes), dealing with drama for a few. Needless to say I try each year to chage that, end the cycle of bad ones. I

"

Everyone's here and assembled
All full of anticipation and cheer
Paired and dancing to the melody
Watching the big screen with wonder
As the ball drops
And at that moment I am lost

I'm alone on New Years Eve
Who will kiss me tender at midnight
Who will give me a sign of forgiveness
For the years past
Who will give me comfort
That this next year will be better
I stand with champagne in hand
Wondering

Where do I belong
So many wasted opportunities
So many times I should have been brave
I was the quiet and coward
Hoping they'd rescue me
But I guess you get what you deserve
When you can't jump into life

And it's over
A new year has come
No one here to hold me
To tell me things will be fine
That there is hope in this world
That there is love for me

And now they have all parted
Going off with friends and lovers
And I, a secondary kiss
Stand alone and wondering
Will there be someone for me
Someone to hold me tight
And make my world seem bright
When another new years comes
