Clark and Lana

Clark and Lana

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

About Clark's love for Lana in the early seasons of Smallville.

"

If you let me be your superman
You could be my Lana Lang
I could tell you all my secrets
I could bear all of my soul

If only I wasn't afraid
If only I could muster the courage
If only you knew what you meant to me

The anatomy of a gutless wonder
With the shoes of a runner
I can't seem to face the truth
I only try to avoid a crash
When truth and reality mix
I love you, this is true
But how could I risk our friendship
With yearnings for a kiss

If only I wasn't afraid
If only I could muster the courage
If only you knew what you meant to me

Would you follow me as I follow you
Could you take the next step
Flow beyond the friendship damn
Into the rapids of relationship
With no other but me

If only I wasn't afraid
If only I could muster the courage
If only you knew what you meant to me

I don't know where to go
Don't know what to do
It seems so easy in my mind
No fear of dramatic death in my dreams
Wish I knew if reality could mirror the dream

If only I wasn't afraid
If only I could muster the courage
If only you knew what you meant to me

You beautiful flower
Lovely yellow sunlight
So human, yet so kind
One day I hope to muster the courage
To declare my love
Before another does

Author's Note

Blake Q Hatfield
I love the whole storyline with Clark and Lana. Clark is the most powerful person on the planet, but the most reserved, sometimes ackward and shy person, especially when it comes to Lana. In his heart and head, he has a great love and passion for her, but he's so affraid to step up and do something about it. He wants to share the world with her, tell her everything, but he wants to save her from the consequences of that knowledge because he loves her. His greates strength keeps his greates love at bay.
