Sunday Train Blues

Sunday Train Blues

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

I'd imagine the Sundays singing it if it was a song, done in an upbeat tempo

"

Leaving on that Sunday train
His big heart full of the blues
He's leaving on that Sunday train
His big heart so full of the blues

Can you tell me how hard it is to love
Can you tell me why sometimes we fail
Can you tell me all your dreams and worries
Can you tell me where I went wrong

I am a dreamer, he said
I am a lover, he thought
I am trying to figure it all out
I just wanted to be loved

Leaving on that Sunday train
His big heart so full of the blues
He's leaving on that Sunday train
His big heart so full of the blues

He though he loved, oh he thought he could
She seemed to want it all at one time
She seemed to care
But as he hopped on that fateful train
She told him, I don't really love you
I can't let you leave thinking that
His heart once made of solid gold
Fell and broke like brittle stone
Making that train ride oh so long

He's leaving, on that Sunday train
Heart weighed heavy with the blues
Leaving on that Sunday train
Heartbroken, no idea what to do

Every pass of a field of grain
Reminded him of how her hair flows in the wind
Every river sunset view
Was almost like the beauty he saw in her eyes
It just made him wanna cry

Leaving on that Sunday train
His big heart so full of the blues
He's leaving on that Sunday train
His big heart so full of the blues

As much as we try
Sometimes our dreams won't fly
He's on that train, thinking that same thing
But if we loose all hope
If we give up and let fate win
We take away all chance
Of finding that perfect romance
You can't have relief and joy without the pain
So even thought he's ready to cry
On that train he'll have time to say goodbye
To the blues stuck in his heart

Leaving on that Sunday train
Heart and mind in pain
Leaving on that Sunday train
Wondering if he'll ever love again
Leaving on that Sunday train
I pray you will my friend
