Crash

Crash

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Hey baby, can you see
All things that did, that hurt
Hey baby, why did you have to go
I thought I loved you
But your actions seemed to proved my love was wrong

So baby, why did you leave me
Was is something that I said
All I said was that I'd love you forever
I guess I needed to promise you another day

I waited by the telephone every night
Your early morning calls became anticipation
And the promise which leached at my sleep
Much like you did to my heart and mind
I'd be a liar if I said I was completely over you
But then I'd be a liar if I said I was waiting like I before

I could handle it if there was some logical explanation
And sometimes I still wonder why
I can no longer hold you in my arms
Feel those soft lips against mine
And gaze upon your eyes when you smile at me
I guess the charms of another
Were far greater than all I could give
I guess sometimes love is just a one way street

And I ask myself, baby, why did you go
Could it be something about me was not enough for you
I can still feel you at night in my dreams
It's torture to awake to a world without you
But in long run I guess it's for the best
Love never really reveals it's plans
It's always up to us to second guess
SO it's best to say so long and let you go
Even though part of me wants you to come back
But when there's a one way street
And two cars driving in opposite directions
It can only cause a crash
And like a fool part me hopes for the wreckage
I guess I'll learn
