Doorways (Eyes)

Doorways (Eyes)

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

Eyes can tell a lot about people, they are how we take in the world around us, and the expressions we make with then can tell a tale or 2.

"

if i said you had beautiful eyes
would you look into mine
and tell me what you see

do you see a gentle soul
or a monster waiting to destroy
can you see a genrous and patient man
or something too sinister for proper words

can you see beyond this society
can you see beyond the hurt and pain
can you see beyond the stereotpye conspiracy
can you see what no one else can
can you see me

and if i told you i could see something special
if i told i saw something great in you
would you think i was commenting on your outter shell
if i told you i saw a serene and wonderous friend
would you think i was only looking for the carnal
if i told you i saw some reservation
would you retreat and not try to confront the issue

and i see beyond the satled seas of society
i see past the costumes and mask
i look beyond what the others say
i try to find what no one else looks for
i try to see you

we live in a world that is sometimes blind
unable to see into the naked eye
only hoping to shade it from the sight of others
we fear the revealing of the self
so we hide behind the mask and cloaks of society
we use blind judgement that can lead us awrye
we are so afriad of the truth, we turn it into a lie

here i stand, naked eyes for the world to see
here i stand, ready for you to see
what is in my heart, what is true
and for you to see what i see in you
you are something more than what we want to be
but you need to let the world see
drop those shielding sunglasses and be
so beautiful eyes be true
take a look and see the world
through my ready eyes

Great observations and thoughts of another here. The eyes have it and can tell us so much about another. This part reminded me of a chorus....
"here i stand, naked eyes for the world to see
here i stand, ready for you to see
what is in my heart, what is true
and for you to see what i see in you "
...I could sing this right now, I love it. Your writing makes so many great points about viewing.

Ah, what wonderful thoughts you have conveyed here. The rhythm and flow keep one rolling right along, as does the excellent word choice. Every stanza, every line, seems to bring about a new realization of truth. This is excellent work. How many of us have wished someone would stop misconstruing our intent, open their eyes, and see themselves and our love for them for what they are? Bravo.

couple typos, nothing word can't fix :P i really liked this piece, though. the exploration of the eyes, and the question as to what people can see in them... and the hope that we can find someone who can see the real you

"can you see what no one else can
can you see me"

and this was my favorite part:

"we live in a world that is sometimes blind
unable to see into the naked eye
only hoping to shade it from the sight of others
we fear the revealing of the self"

great job my dear.
good observations on teh world and ourselves and the part of our bodies that reveal the most... if people only took the time to really see
