A Girl and Her Panda

A Girl and Her Panda

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

it's about imperfect friendship that is somehow symbotically perfect... well, that's how I see it, please feel free to add imput.

"

she loves him and takes him everywhere
he's her lovey-dovey panda bear
a strength not many could see
beyond the cute and cuddly exterior
always tugging on that collar
for an assurance she was there
never mind the choking of that peaceful soul
that always just smiled and shook it's head with each jerk

if only she could understand the things panda wanted to say
but i guess panda is not much people as it's a comfort zone
something wonderful when the world is collapsing
and forgettable when all is bright and shinny
something to make her fell better than she does inside

and panda knows all these fears
panda knows she has scars and restless thoughts
panda her pet there to open the vents to her soul
panda's antics are sometimes elementary in nature
but it's that simplicity she desires in this world
that's why she always tugs on that leash she put on panda
so strong, but with a big heart, panda always lets her lead
knowing that eventually she'll see things through panda eyes
that those things she's been waiting to be are all inside
panda has always seen the wonders of the world in her
he's just waiting for her to see the same

and people wonder about this girl and her panda
why she leads him so with that chain
why he seems to follow with joy and no reservation
it's what they can't see that special
a connection beyond the physical world
two souls trying to get through a world so cruel
she may lead, but panda choose to follow
when she is down, panda is her up
when panda feels the cold of the world, her smile is warmer than the sun
maybe things are not what we can see as perfect and true
but for reasons we cannot see
the girl and the panda live in a lovely harmony

To me your fabulously unique poem is about girls or women who have nothing in common with their boyfriends but lead them around and make all the decisions. Their "panda" is there to make them feel better and not alone. I feel this is explaining how some women need a security blanket but it may not be their true love. I feel that this is what their relationship is based upon...

....It seems to work for them and this type of relationship is very common today. Some of us are holding out for a real man who likes to make the decisions!! This is written so very well ! Another great one from you!
