Happy (and That's Not Sad)

Happy (and That's Not Sad)

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

I wrote this to a Jenny Toomey/Tsunami style song that was stuck in my head.

"

Wild Saturdays that go into the morning
Quiet Sunday afternoons
An unexpected weekday of liberation
These are a few of my favorite things

I'm so stir crazy these days
I don't wanna sit still
Oh I'm going mad, I'm going crazy
Because I'm happy
And that's not sad

I tell you some times I wonder
Why things make me smile
Oh they make me so glad
And I want to share this feeling with the world

Oh I'm going mad, I'm going crazy
Because I'm happy
And that's not sad

Happiness is a funny thing
It's not a physical thing, but you can feel it
It makes no noise, but it sounds so nice
It is flavorless, but it's simply the sweetest things in the world
It's odorless, but you can smell it in the air
And even without a form, you can see it in someone's eyes
Oh yes you can

And I'm so stir crazy these days
I wanna jump up and fly
Things feel a little warmer, more alive

Feels like I'm going mad
Feels like I'm going crazy and insane
But it's alright because I'm happy
And that's not sad

Oh I'm going mad, I'm going crazy
Because I'm happy
And that's not sad

Going mad, going crazy
Because I'm happy
And that makes me glad

About
I began writing back in '94 and I've been in love with it ever since. Music has a big influence on how I write, and what topics I choose to write about. I like to write a clever piece every now and th.. more..
