The Theory Of A Million Tears

The Theory Of A Million Tears

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

I wanted to do something to the tune of Question Mark at the Mysterian's "96 Tears," but came up with this instead

"

We only get a million tears in life
For all the fears and reservations
The woe and lament of loss
I've shed many in these short days
In the hope worry will go away

Tears cleanse the sound in times of sorrow
When they dry, we know there's a tomorrow
The come to ease the pain
By breaking the dams to let emotion flow

Tears are telling silver drops in the grey
Letting the world know the things we dare not say
An uncontrollable crack in the mask we wear
As we sometimes must live life as a masquerade ball
Hiding truth for fear and protection

Tears are opposed to our rational world
We understand their parts through science
But their meaning is only found in our philosophy
They pair with flowing emotion and inspire like a muse
Causing good and evil, salvation and destruction
The drops play more than the monotone of reason

Tears can be a power rivaling the stars
A more powerful trigger than any gun
As honest as the innocence of a child
And as deceptive as slight of hand
But just as magical as the legends say

We only get a million tears they say
When we can no longer shed them
We have died on that day
I hope for tears to be drops of joy
Far away from a world of pain
So love can smile in the emotional rain

In the end I hope my millionth tear sparkles
Reflecting a pure light from my love's eyes
A calming tear that helps ease the end of days
On that day I shall not fear
For there will be love in the millionth tear
