Venustraphobia

Venustraphobia

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

My attempt to playfully write a poem about venustraphobia, the fear of beautiful women. I saw the word in someone's AIM profile as the word of the day and I became quite fascinated with it.

"

I met this girl named Brianne
She was quite something special
A good head on her shoulders
With a body beyond compare
She could light up the room with her smile
And she drives all the boys wild

But when I see her coming
Stolling down the avenue
I get this feelin' inside
And confusion begins to take over my brain
And I run out on another chance

Venustraphobia
I can't seem to myself bring to you
I'm clearly insane
Because I can't get the courage to say
Hello

There was this girl Heather
With her wit she was quite cleaver
An angelic face with curves in the right place
You couldn't help fallin' love
A voice of angel choir
For her the boys burned with desire

But when I see her coming
Entering a crowded room
I get this feelin' inside
And confusion begins to take over my brain
And do somethig quite lame

Venustraphobia
I can't seem to myself bring to you
I'm clearly insane
Because I can't get the courage to say
Hello

Well there's a girl called Grace
Take one into her eyes
The beauty of her soul will
Give you a notion that you could change the world
Your heart locked in a tractor beam
But you don't want to pull away

But as I see her
Strolling past the admirers
I get this feelin' inside
And confusion begins to take over my brain
I flee the scene once again

And there's this lady Diana
A spark so great and beyond most
You'd pray to one day be her gracious host
Here smile the power of a 1000 suns
You're caught like a moth to a flame

But when I see her
Leading her court along the road
I seem to have a feeling
A confusion inside
And I run off

Oh Venustraphobia
Why have you left me so lame
Standing here far away from love
I can't seem to get above the fear
Please take your spell away from me
And let me go for something more
