Same Media Domesticated Hardcore

Same Media Domesticated Hardcore

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

There was this thing on the internet called the Guided By Voices Song Generator. It basically gave you 4 ramdom words that could be used as some song title. I decided to use it to come up with poem ideas a few years back. This was one of them

"

Welcome to the freak show
Come gather 'round to see
All the disfunction and pain
Watch the truth and it's parade
All the lies and and all the fame

It's just the same ol' media domesticated hardcore
You see on Jerry, Ricki, and Sally too
You even see it on the news
Media hardcore when life's a bore
And thank God I'm not them

Conflict resolution, and contribution
The audience puts fire to the flame
They try make them laugh, and make 'em cry
They give out the call of freaks
They are the ones who want to watch
As their sinking ships go down
They like to see people in pain
They make their self-worth feel inflated
But all they have created
Is just another ignorant remark

It's just the same ol' media domesticated hardcore
You see on Jerry, Ricki, and Sally too
You even see it on the news
Media hardcore when life's a bore
And thank God I'm not them
Thank God I'm somebody else

Then what about enertainment
Is it so cool, to act the fool
Is so great to make fun of them all
Is it right to put the freaks on parade
Is it right to play this
We gotta look inside
We gotta make it better
We gotta stop domesticating the media's hardcore trash

It's just the same ol' media domesticated hardcore
You see on Jerry, Ricki, and Sally too
You even see it on the news
Media hardcore when life's a bore
And thank God I'm not them
Thank God I'm somebody else
Thank God I don't want to play, yeah
Thank God, I just don't want to play...
Thank God,Thank God, I don't want to play...
Thank God I don't want to play, yeah
Don't want to play in their game
