Siren of the Senses

Siren of the Senses

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

A friend of mine asked me to write a poem about breast, yes you read right, breast. At first I didn't think I could make something, that if I tried it would be really trashy or really bad. After a second thought I told her I'd give it a shot.

"

As we gaze upon their beauty
We are blinded and hypnotized
As if the stars have all started to dance
Time has stopped and the world is gone
We are as babes, blank and subdued

With each metronome like moment
We are overwhelmed with emotion
It is as if God has made a natural symphony
Unheard, only perceived by the eyes
The mind plays the music silently
As we are caught in their conductor's call

And when we touch them, we feel alive
We sense something that can only be call a miracle
Softness and yet fire combine within the mind
We feel as if they are angelic clouds
We feel they could bring ease to any soul
We feel them loosen our resolve

Were they to be committed to the sky
They would become the new north starts
Becoming us to a home we long for
And comfort we have long for since we've know to be possible
To be upon such shores seems to be happiness for many

They are givers of life
They nurture in many ways
Helping us get through our days from young to old
They are where we begin, and some hope to end
At their side and amongst them is our desire
Like noble knights we kneel to their royal presence

They seem insignificant to some
Yet to most of the masses they are of dire importance
They have built and supported many an industry
They have created fame and fortune for many
Even with this power and influence
They sometimes curse those whom try to use them
They sometimes haunt those that wish to alter them
They are both of the angels and demons
But the desire for them is beyond such labels

They are something greater than themselves
Their definition a complexity
Their uses and misuses are endless
They bring us pleasure and pain
Relief and comfort
Sadness and joy
Love and lust
And as they rise and fall
We're trapped in the wake of their journey
Wanting to be with them forever

Very interesting, and I must say very well done, especially considering the topic. I don't believe I have ever read a poem entirely centered on breasts. Hm. Anyway, it seemed to flow very well, but it felt as though it dragged on a bit. Maybe it's just my headache, but I found it a bit tedious toward the end. Nothing against the poem itself, just the extent of the extended metaphor. Anyway, great job on this.

It was an excellent read, though, I felt like it dragged a little.
