Friendship and Understanding

Friendship and Understanding

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield
"

A piece about two friends with different views of the world. They accept one another's point of view without leeting it destroy their friendship or change their values.

"

And one said:
"Well let’s go to bar my friend
We'll go have a beer and conversation
Talk of topics new and old
 And the divides between us"

And one said:
"Well tell me how you can prove your God"

And the other replied:
"The existence of love"

And the conversation went on
Time had become void to the two
One trying to debunk the other
The other trying to make the one believe

And as they branded their battle gear
Arming themselves with their facts
They began to try and tear into the divide
Both believing they were right

The one said:
"Well where's your proof"
The other said:
"the Bible and the miracle of you"

The one said:
"Well is it all true, can you really believe that"
The other said:
"Anything can be flawed if made by man's hand,
 But check your history
My savior Jesus was indeed a real man."

They went back and forth until they can to a conclusion,
Both saying:
"Hey now, let's not fight
We can't figure out who's right tonight
 You believe what you will
And in the end my friend
 We'll see who's right"

And the other added:
"I'll live my life by the things I believe are right
And you can live to what you see as true
 Love is my evidence
And the feeling of being and seeing
 The wonders of the world"

And the one said:
"Well I know I can believe
That I know what I feel is right
Hang on to what you will
It's not me and that's alright"

Then they laughed a bit
Closed the divide
Realizing that either way
Friends they will remain
Had another drink
And enjoyed the night
Knowing that it will all be
Revealed in the end

I really liked this. It was very clever! And mysterious at the same time. How they both agreed to listen to the others thought to wait and see what would happen eventually. Nice Job!
