Where Im From

Where Im From

A Poem by Blake McGarrah

I am from broken shards.
From a shattered "family" and clouded past.
I am from loud speakers that suppress my thoughts.
I am from the imaginary forts built from pillows and blankets, which i used to be alone.

Im from emotion filled fights and endless nights of silence.
Im from forced wardrobes and visits to a holy place i didn't want to attend.
From you'll do what i say or I would suffer that day.
Im from bottled up emotions that never made it out.

Im from a never give up ambition, musical motivation.
From endless hours my mom worked, and lonely nights with the babysitter.

In my heart I kept a fire that Ive kept to this day.
It has survived countless storms and brutal winds.
I am from big dreams and high hopes, against dark clouds and cluttered thoughts.
