Chapter 8: Chloe

“I can’t believe we’ve been in school for almost two months” I say to Claire. I’m trying to change the subject. “It feels like we only started yesterday”

“I know what you mean” Yes! It’s working. “But, you still haven’t answered my question” Or maybe not.

“What question?”

“The one I’ve been asking you for the 2 months we’ve been here”

“I still don’t know what question you’re on about” She looks at me and sighs. “Chloe do you want to come to the singing club type choir type not choir type thing?”

“How many types can you get in one sentence?”

“Chloe!” I really don’t want to go. I don’t care what she says I cannot sing. Not even to save my life. But as usual I go along with things just to please people.

“Ok then” She’s jumps up and down in the air screaming with joy.

“Thank you!” She eventually says.” You won’t regret it”

“Yeah, Yeah”

“Come on let’s go find Emma and Elinor and try and get them to come”

“Emma might but I don’t think Elinor will”

“Why won’t Elinor come?”

“Because she really doesn’t like singing” I say.

“Yeah, well we’ll see what she says first”

“She won’t come” I say. She starts dragging me across the yard.

 

We finally find them. Emma says she would come but Elinor

say’s there was no way we’re going to get her to come.

While Claire is trying to get Elinor to change her mind, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see James.

“What you doing?” He asks.

“We’re trying to get Elinor to go to that singing club thing” He looks behind me to see Claire failing to change Elinor’s mind.

“She’ll never go” He says.

“I know but Claire doesn’t”

“Are you going to the club?”

“Unfortunately yes” I say.

“I thought you didn’t like singing?”

“I don’t but I got dragged into it”

“You’ll do anything to please other people won’t you?” He says.

“Yep, but what Claire doesn’t know is I’m just going to hide in the corner so I don’t have to sing”

“Yeah we’ll see” He starts to walk away. “See you later”

“Yeah we will see” I turn around to see what Claire was up to now. She isn’t there. Instead she’s walking off. Elinor and Emma are talking about something. I said bye to them and ran after Claire.
