Alcohol of LoveA Poem by MeaninglessWordsA piece that stemmed from a late-night thought during a party that was full of drama. We are all addicted to this sweet drink, even though some of
us have never had a taste. It leaves us in tears, both of happiness and sadness, this
sweet alcohol that we call love. It leaves us sick and broken but stronger in the end, and always
wanting just one more sip. This sweet drink has a bitter taste, but we cannot stop
drinking, because all we want is to be intoxicated by it’s warm embrace that
will leave us cold and shivering in the end. It has us in a grip of dizziness and lust, making us happy
and making us sad once again. We stumble around, swimming through the air saturated with
this sweet drink, all of us feeling it’s warm touch, knowing deep down that we
will all just be left sick and broken when the night comes to an end. We all know it and try to ignore it; we try to focus on our
drink and how it makes us feel for each other. Our strong passionate feelings of intimacy and the pain of
old scars being torn open both send shockwaves through the air. This is our addiction, it breaks us down only to build us
back up, it leaves us all wanting more, all of us wanting a taste of bitterness
and happiness. All of us are held under the spell of this sweet drink, even
though some of us have never had a taste, this sweet alcohol that we call love. © 2013 MeaninglessWords |
