Alabama

Alabama

A Poem by Blackpoet421

Blue skies and dirt roads,
Right after it rain at night you hear the crickets and the toads,
The smell of honeysuckle trees and fresh water from the springs,
Folks you been knowing all yo life most still stay in the same place,
Yo friend's you went to school with got kids that look like them they even got the same lil face,
Seem like in the country the power of God seem to show so bright,
It thunder so hard it make the ground shake and lighting so bright it make the whole sky sho light,
The oak tree you had a tree house in ya cousin's kids got one there now,
And just like when u wuz a kid they didn't need no grown folks helping them to build it, they already knew how,
Walking in the evening's with two empty ice-cream buckets pickin plums and apricots,
Alabama summer time from 10am till 5 man it be hot,
Fresh smell of plowed durt, old men still use mules and horses to plow their fields,
Seem like thru God's grace, man bonding with animals working together makes everything in the garden neva be lil,
Juicy watermelons backyard bar-b-q's,
Playing basketball wit ya childhood friends,
Back then I couldn't wait to be grown now I wish
Those dayz wouldn't end,
But thank you God for those dayz and to the day I'm still here,
If I had to leave right now, God please forgive me for my sins, my family and friends shouldn't shed a tear it's time to leave here.
