My QueenA Poem by LovecraftA Knight has an affair of love with his Queen.
My queen is of unsurpassed beauty and wisdom,
Witty and lovely, compassionate and intelligent. She loves me fully, with all her being, I know, A glorious affair have we maintained and I love her deeply. But our love is improper and a dangerous secret, I am just a knight with no fair maiden, Save My Queen. In time she is to be wed to a king from a far-flung land, A despicable man full of lust and greed, a simple knave. My heart is soon to break, As there is nothing to do. Each time we make love my heart grows ever fonder, Her eyes and face lovelier than any other woman's, Our bodies pulsing together in sweet blissfulness, Her hips and delicate breasts move to our hearts, The look of tenderness and love when we finish. When the new king arrives I stare at My Queen, Seeing her face bereft of the joy or comfort she Always had before. I leave so I do not have to bear witness. But somehow, later that very night, I knew My Queen was in distress. So I slashed and maimed the Kings guards, forgetting my sworn duties, Until finally I came to her bedroom to find the King violently raping her. Rage and my desire to protect my lovely Queen overcame any oath. I grasped both hands upon my broadsword and impaled him, While he was busying himself atop her writhing form. I withdrew my blade from this evil coward, unaware of the vast blood. My Queen screamed and cried frantically as I did so. "My foolish Love, what have you done?" She whispered lightly. "I did what I had to do to protect you, my love." I said, just as I was stabbed by one of the Kings guards. My queen screamed even louder, Tears flowing down her cheeks. "I love you, My Queen!" I yell before I fall, more guards surrounding me as my eyes grow dim and I fade from the living. Anything for My Queen.
