That's good!
- A good number of lines (seemingly) contain redundancies, especially lines 3 and 8.
- I'm unclear as to what "alloted time" means, given that the narrator claims he's Death's immortal companion. Is it that he's allowed only a certain amount of time to find each helpless victim?

So even the reaper has a guide! Nice to know, hehe. This fine poem begs for another from this most interesting companion. I wonder, is he slave or apprentice, how does he choose for the reaper? can deals be made?

I'll echo Mr McFadyen's sentiment and say I love the thoughts of a Death's equivalent to 'Santa's little helper' as the premise of this one Lc.
Would the 'assistant' be of the undead then? Just a weird query...
Well done my friend
:))
Love the concept of Death having a Sméagol like creature sniffing out those marked for demise. Well told in a mystical fashion.
I might suggest
'He requires me to fulfill my purposeful Duty.' to avoid requires requirement?
and an 'I' missing?
'For He is my master and I would dare not disobey him

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I was somewhat drunk when I composed it.
Your pieces are always dark, Lovecraft as is this one too. You seem to have studied death and how it's "mind" works on a greater degree ;)
I like the description and imagination here (although it seems twisted to like it) but it is inevitable.
Without death, we wouldn't have appreciated life..
Interesting read :)

The echoes of the dying cause me no harm whatsoever,
For I bear witness to both the Living and Dying alike,
Your thoughts on a most inevitable event for every mortal are very deep. I like the indifferent tone of Death here in sharp contrast to the fear and emotion it evokes in all mankind. Indeed, we are so insignificant in the greater scheme of things. Much appreciated, Lovecraft!
