All That MatteredA Poem by Amberlynn Kaye
It was at first glance,
That I saw your eyes meet mine. It was a silence meaning more than words. An understanding passing between two people. They say, the eyes are the window of the soul. I never quite understood quite a theory, Until my eyes pierced into yours. My blue eyes met your hazel, And there was something there I couldn't comprehend. I didn't try to understand at first. Cuz I know the first verse to every song. I played my cards right an didn't ponder, Instead I took your hand into my own. Feeling the softness in your skin, An the gentleness in your touch. A feeling, connection, passing through us, That we didn't need words in understanding. I can remember placing my hand to your cheek, Loving how you relaxed in my touch. More than anything it was your heart. How it beat in my ears after resting my head to your chest. feeling your warmth radiate through my body. Your arms wrapped around me, An I felt completely safe...I felt loved. The troubles of the world faded an only that moment mattered... After you left, everything shattered. My legs buckled an I fell to my knees. Your warmth was gone, your touch so far. But after all the struggle my heart still yearns, For the moment everytime you told me, **I love you** I still wish to hear those same words even now... Because that was all that ever mattered. © 2015 Amberlynn Kaye |
