Sunset

Sunset

A Poem by Amberlynn Kaye

The sun blazed with intensifying rays as it stalked over the horizon.
Shining with purity in its light as colors flowed easily around its image.
Heat radiated from within it as it sent warmth through everything surrounding its beauty.
It was a picture of a perfect canvas as it showed its true meaning.

I stand at the edge of the cliff, wondering eyes peer out towards the never-ending valley.
The sun stares back in a mixture of yellow and orange in a graceful dance of nature, as it to, stares back.
I can feel its presence all around me as it sends fascination and love flowing in me like a waterfall of happiness.

My hand reaches out to something I can not touch, only feel.
The light casts over my skin as I block its path and I smile.
The warmth, the beauty in its existence enough to make my heart race like wildfire.
I leave my hand, extended, without thinking of pulling it back.

Because it meant freedom. It meant life. It meant that all the bad things in life can be overshadowed by the beauty in other things. So long as you are able to see it.

"Yesterday, was a day to learn by. To make a mistake.
Today, was the day to knowledge that mistake and choose a different path.
Tomorrow, is the day when all that you have learned, all that you see, comes in a fresh start."
