A Girl Named Silence

A Girl Named Silence

A Poem by Blackcatattack
"

The personification of awkward silence

"
She is the silence in every room, and mostly goes about unnoticed,
overpowered by the voices of others.
They rule the room while she keeps to herself,
because she is polite.
She waits for someone else to make the first move.
But if moments pass and no one says anything
she begins to work her magic.
Her voice will come creeping into your ear
and stir up the blue nerves inside you.
Soon you will sweat
and your eyes will wander anxiously about the room
looking for something solid to fix on.
She can make you feel naked and uncomfortable
no matter who you are with,
or if you're with no one at all.
Silence brings nothing but empty white space
causing you to feel vulnerable.

I love the way that you make silence a presence.......And all of this is true of course, silence can be as unnerving as it is relaxing

An thought provoking review as always. I'm glad I could convey the feeling of this one. Thank you.

Lovely personification of silence! Also, I'm really in love with your writing - it's so relevant and meaningful. The use of short, punchy sentences really emphasises the 'sweating' victim of Silence. You have definitely portrayed a detailed image within this text. Even the way you have fractured the sentences and broken them by moving to the next line clearly encapsulates the almost uncomfortable tone of the poem. And I love the presence of awkward silence, opposed to simply describing absolute silence :)
Great work as always!
