Cousin in French Prison

Cousin in French Prison

A Chapter by Laura Lynn

Hannah looked up at the moon,
And knew it was a world unto
Itself.  She was on her way to
France to see the prison there.
If they were still using Guillotines,
She didn't know.  Did they apply
Chemicals to their prisoners like
Her country did?  She didn't know.
She was surprised to see a tall,
Handsome stranger with a blonde
Afro walk into the foyer and throw
Respect her way with a curt nod.
Can you see her to the right room?
Here is her signature for the meeting,
Andre. She gazed up into his eyes.
Crystal blue eyes radiance seemed to
Enter her soul right at that moment
Like a bolt of lightning sending shivers
Not unlike goosebumps down her spine.
'D'acord, Jean,' Andre replied, shamelessly.
Right down the hallway she knew her
Only time to see her cousin was this
Christmas, which she was spending
Here in a French prison.  She had never
Expected to go to France to bail
Their relatives from such a location.
How are you enjoying your time in
Around ze capital Miss, Andre said
Catching himself on his broken English.
Ever seen the Eiffel tower?
No, Hannah replied actually not, but
Here I am now! What a silly reply,
Of course she was here, why was she so
Obvious, always refraining from offering
Current insight into an interchange like this
How would she ever break the ice?
As though she were a robot, an android
Like those that people were writing about
Beliefs would have to transcend her actions,
Her fate in a way of life was too much for her.
At least she had come all this way but
Lightening her luggage would have been preferable.
France was everything she expected it to be and more...
