Catch my Drift

Catch my Drift

A Poem by Laura Lynn

All bodies have been accounted for
Come tomorrow, with blessing
Calm my desperate
Heart.  I remember those I have loved.
I cannot always love for the heart is dark.
All my children, the soap opera, (the opening credits,) but to only have one, a sadness
Promise me body you will be diligent
Plodding along simply won't cut it
After all is said and done
Reason with me, reason with me
Every hour has become the witching hour
Cast your nets not on the still waters
Anybody can see she is, he is down
Though the brocades in the house are rich, they
Can't save you from overindulgence or loneliness.
Help me for I am forlorn and lonely but love to be, out on a limb and imagining the limitless

Definitely something that stirs emotion within me. I enjoyed the conflict of you wanting your body to do more than simply walk through life (at least that is my outtake on it?) and giving it that separate entity kind of feel, almost like our minds and body are on two different levels. Amazing work.

I will admit I was a little startled when I read the first line, I was curious what it was going to be about. After reading through the poem, I loved it. it was beautifully written.

And, I did not catch your drift. Hurt my head. But, beautiful like you, LL.
I enjoyed the rythm and the way you express your feelings.

Laura, The feel and tempo of this poem seem soft and sad at the same time. As if you are adrift in lost memories. Very nicely written. I did enjoy it.

Very good poem. Sad, yes, but sadness is also a feeling a poet has to describe and you have done a fine job doing it. Very well done. :) Rudi
