Oh What a Night

Oh What a Night

A Poem by Laura Lynn

Oh What a Night,
The cold outside,
the heat inside,
hours to worry about
the future, what money there will be or won't
what politics
what poetics are played....

Here we are with our video games,
they mesmerize us for hours...
I will never learn French, Italian, German, Arabic, or even Hebrew,
it is too much for me and I am too old.

Every year the money is for Christmas presents.
There will be a day when it is not about her or her or him or him.
It is sometime about the youth of tomorrow.
It is sometime not about greed, or thinking there is something better.
There is something better, there is, there really is,
but there is nothing better and a way to be better.

Cold nights tend to harbor cold feelings through which the struggle ensues seeking warmth. New things may project the feel of aging and the realization that knowledge is not as easily obtainable as when youth held out so much promise, the warmth attached. Very nicely written. I am gratefully accepting your friend request so I wanted to read some of your work as a show of good faith. Thank you! take care...dan

O, Laura, the beautiful hopelessness of the life in these words. Sometimes I think I already know Hebrew, but then I watch Seinfeld and have no idea what they're saying. Lovely poem

You can always find something better but don't deprive yourself in searching for it.
