A Chapter by Laura Lynn

At the play area, I try to get my son to eat.
Crazy as the children are, screaming and laughing our
Cooked carrots and broccoli, cold leftover chicken.
At once, I am lost to olden days.  I shall only
Love what I can.  How will I start over? Where?
Daytime quickly became night. We left before the traffic.
Assumptions are made about what is happening.
Rightful ownership is underway.  Does he deserve
Summaries?  Does he want them?  We will leave.
It isn't for a known outcome, it's
A leap of faith.  They will only give you
Crinkled bank notes.  They get to go somewhere.
Crushed ideas.  I believe in this what I am doing.
At various checkpoints a she wrestles with the
Laughing girl, I say "be careful" and come eat this.
Dinnertime is already here, and I know he will fall
Asleep of starvation if I do not tell him to eat.
There are new crowds here after the next hour and the next.
Overheated, the children do not yet know doctrine here.

falling asleep of starvation....leaving before the traffic...

life is like taking a long trip...we start out as chldren playing at recess, then we find the need to stop and rest, then stop and fuel ourselves...or we will overheat and never survive the rest of the trip.

we wind up with crushed ideas of where we were going to end up.

thoughtful piece.
