To be, rather than to seem

To be, rather than to seem

A Poem by Laura Lynn

Annuity, every year, creatures of habits we depend on
Broth.  I thought the people denied to me were better.
Inaccessible, I tell myself is not better. See her impressive fillet.
Thesis and synthesis, the meanings collide and seem unheeded.
Untiringly the seamstresses are working, adding here a gusset;
Disqualification given to any design that didn’t have pretty seam.
Inaccurate historical elements, the Rocketeer’s bronze helmet.
Nickle, copperplate, “you see that underneath the keys that’s brass”, the figure said.
A limit to gathering, and pleasant change… (I had looked down at my clarinet.)
Reinforced concrete looks down at me from a skyscraper, many stories, what was that movie?
Incompatible magnet you, sorry for the intimate address, we have got to hold back impulses,
Outlying a creature of habit.
