Gold and SilverA Poem by Laura Lynn
Afternoons spent in
preparation for his arrival. I
bought some sketches for the walls, then I steamed Broccoli for my son. I was loved by the dear infant. Obtrusive and tawdry knitting experiment took hours. Traveler’s checks were helpful for foreign countries. Sirloin seemed fine. I grew up eating it. What have we otherwise for the best steak reward? For letters, we abbreviate. Dear Mo., you are merely a mountainous Brochure to me, a gateway to another country. I wish Broadmindedness could touch me, we see the tourist’s Rucksack, a red or blue paisley bandana tied to a stick. Enticed by the desserts we see in the store, we’d rather Vernacular expression, but we barely speak to each other. Intimidation happens at one minute. I loved this man. Abbreviate my address when you write it. Give up hope. Rudders on the boat have been locked. Where is the key? Entitled to fair days, each person looks out for their team. Abbreviation gives the lineup confidence. I will climb, Broadminded, into the perilous reaches of altitudes. Bristles do not scrape against my skin, the pain of it hurts, Ruddy and pimpled, I become scarred. They will not fade. Espionage eclipses me. We have some guests in this Viable country; it is fine, well, and good. I tell you, Intolerable sunlight does not beat out the worry from me. Abbreviation of each state on each letter with zip codes, tranquil lake waters, and personal property: these remain. Slapdash work with little room for editing, I’ve a slipshod, intrepid way with the day. Our parents ingrain us with Overbooked nights of habitude and perspectives; niceties help us to build a network of star patterns, so Emotions do not get the better of us, but help guide us. © 2014 Laura Lynn |
