Ottava rima

Ottava rima

A Poem by Laura Lynn
"

Ottava rima abababcc

"
Rock of ages cleft for me? What ages?
Until I find him again, I swear I’ll
Pull myself across miry swamps, sages,
Eating and drinking nothing but this style.
Silkworms will spin thread while a war rages.
The thread will be archaic as the Nile
River, a swamp for the old world preserved,
Exiled textiles blocking our way, unnerved

Reason for material detachment.
Unlike cordiality which we shall
Stream through delightful means of distraction,
Calling all calendar girls for L’Oreal,
Epitaphs have tried criminals’ entrapment.
Lower me down in watery rationale,
Love my image the man has been taught to say,
Organized crime and religion was gay.

Rumi chews the cud. We ruminate about
Untold treasures still in the works a plan
Made under wraps for someone.  Why have clout?
I should not have praised anyone so chessman,
Noodles & Company for a queen they flout
All I saw was exile but now afghan
Ream me in, it was me who loved America,
Exacting Allah for
brahma,
cheetah, comma...

Very nice use of words and thoughts. I like how you used the thoughts leading to the very good ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I love writing in forms and you rocked this one! The perfect form to fit your well chosen words - the rhyme flowed easily - not at all forced. Beautiful work!
