Sonnets to Life, Anti-love, & the Anti-spirit

Sonnets to Life, Anti-love, & the Anti-spirit

A Poem by Laura Lynn

*Energy-giving Organization

Energy lights up this house.  I’m stuck here.
Night comes softly, but at least I’ve got heat.
Energy gives us the internet.  Fear
Resides in the little grievances.  Neat
Grievances for the daily news.  Love
Eats itself.  I won’t love a man, I’ll
Take Diana’s purpose and shoot a dove.
I’ll race through the forest with her while
Callous lovers fight about furniture.
On Monday, I see seven swans swimming;
Energy-giving geese with a mature
Nursery rhyme, with ten drummers drumming.
Tell me no lies. I’ve got rhyme and reason.
Evergreens are too fake for this season.

*Why would he have to emphasize both?

Emphasizing two sides of a coin,
Nick, a jolly saint, only had the one.
Frankincense is a love of Paris. Join
Arctic circles. This is not the summer sun.
Santa surfs on the arctic wind, his sleigh
Is for reindeer a trip around the world.
Every year it gets worse, the way we play;
Needing our stranger purpose hair uncurled,
Tied in little knots with bows for dreadlocks.
Rutabagas for our supper, won’t be
Adequate for my adoration, “box
Me up some of that soup,” they say maybe.
Bring me your presence on a cold day hence.
I wanted for company but had plans.
