Hugs

Hugs

A Poem by Laura Lynn

HUGS

C
atch all the birds falling into our hands.
Let’s imagine that things are falling from
H
eaven, and we could catch all the pictures.
The child says we could catch red lightning
A
rmed with our nets while tracing imperceptible
gibberish in air, as though we would draw thus.
B
uying markers we don’t use, he pokes me
threading the marker through the holes in my
Ecru sweater. Now he adds water to Play dough
making a mess of the colorful salty substance…

Come home someday, though your home is different.
There is a jungle with Tarzan and Jane you’re trapped in
Hugging banana leaves there, swinging from branches,
and I can’t see or find you at the top of the building.

I don’t see him fraternizing with cybernetic rooks.
I don’t have cooks, he doesn’t have me as a cook?
...I don’t know, you want to look at this?  I could go on but time is a waste.

Time is a wastin’[away]
