Written in anxiety and love

Written in anxiety and love

A Poem by Laura Lynn
"

I feel nervous that I won't wake up on time tomorrow and will sleep through my alarm. I'm not sure what to do.

"

TO ANTE
L
aboratory of invention, we had vision and purpose,
E
xpiation is part of this meditation, to remember
H
ummus paste and pita?(...what gave the sandwich flavor.)
A
ttempt greater strength but admit weakness.  The
M
utt we had as kids was alive for 13 years and died.
E
x post facto I thought he could have lived longer,
R
etroactively we try to make up for what goes batty.

ANTECEDENT
M
yrtle trees at Myrtle Beach--I thought I knew a lot;
I
gnominy, today a feeling, tells me that I only wanted
C
rocodile tears in place of real ones (to impress them.)
H
ungarian goulash relies on paprika (& a mix of vegetables.)
R
etrospective we look at the past, trying to ameliorate.
E
xpiry dates change but new cards are promptly sent.
C
rocus flowers were my favorite memory of first snow;
H
unks were handsome men, but the term was obsolete;
O
dyssey was a book we all read, loved, a tired diaspora;
D
renched we came out of the summer rain, happy kids,
E
xpressions aglow, laughing, breaking rules of the limits,
M
utton does not seem quite edible somehow.

TO ANTEDATE
L
abor saving devices may not save labor.  Why do we seek
I
gnorance instead of truth, were we not to know? What
C
rook took from the garden of good and evil any
H
umoresque, so that we would be carried away by it.
R
evaluing what we have before us and set before us,
O
ffenseless tides of the day, ins and outs. Where we go,
T
insel will be sold in stores soon.  I will go to a study, a
L
abyrinth of groups, socialites, some with friends, some
I
mmature, some pretty mature. We all get older, it is a
F
luke of nature, or a lucky strike at billiards. From
N
utty breads to granola bars we draw sustenance, see
E
xpropriation as unjust in some instances, just in others.
I
mmeasurable pain, do we become conditioned to all?
