Saga of a break up.

Saga of a break up.

A Poem by Blackbird1968

He tells you, you need to talk.
Instantly, your stomach feels weighed down by a thousand pounds.
You show up and he can't look you in the eye.
he looks at the ground rubbing his head.
he seems hesitant.
He tells you it's not you and that it's him.
You touch your face and a tear drop.
An hour of silence.
Standing in the driveway waiting for the other to say something
hoping it'll change but it's not going to.
You go home with a hollowed heart, and everything around you is blurred.

The next day you're haunted by memories.
The plan's you had yet didn't exceed your expectations of what you promised eachother.
Your emotions collapsed
your head is a winding tornado that wont seem to evaporate.
No motivation to move, just staring at the ceiling until day turns to night.
You're screaming inside, your heart has been decapitated.

Two day's after the break up you feel okay enough to get out of bed.
You call a few friends and try to get out of the house.
Lunch,Dinner,movies.
You forget about all the bad and heart break.
Then your friends need to leave and your thoughts haunt you for the rest of the night.
Glass of wine after glass of wine doesn't ease the pain enough.

The third day, your sink is full of dishes and your fish need to be fed.
You do what you need to do before you find yourself behind a carton of ice cream
and in front of the tv.

Weeks go by.
Waiting by the phone, hoping he calls you.
A month goes by and you find your self heavied and emotionless.
Going through old pictures, and sinking slowly in a pool of mush in your mind.

He calls.
He wants to talk.
Anxiety takes over and you down three glasses of wine to try and numb the pain.
You try to clean yourself up, but your apartment speaks for it's self.
He knocks a few times and you're too nervous to answer the door.
He let's himself in.
A line of excuses, and apologies leave you confused and taken back.
He misses you, and loves you.
He swears he has felt the same pain you have.

Look at him, he's fine.
You can tell by the amount of times his phone rang that he's been busy with out you.
He tell's you all the stuff he's done without you.
But swears, he was so broken.

Silence, Just like the night he ended the best love story of your life.
What does he want from you?
He broke your heart and many of his promises.
Left you shattered.
Gave you more days of heartache than he did affection.

You feel your face, and the same tear finds itself back where it started.
He wipes your tears, and he hand is warm and you find yourself falling back into every word.
He kisses your forehead and goosebumps exhilarates you.
You can't look him in the eye, but your eyes stay closed.

A whirlwind of emotions come over you.
Pain, love, fear, agony.
It all comes up, all the feelings you have kept stored in your mind.

All the hours you spent watching toxic movies.
All the songs you tortured yourself to.
All the pictures you haunted yourself with.

"Stop" you tell him.
You beg him to leave.
If you know what's good for you, you know it's time to end it.
For good.

Closure is all you needed.
You saw all his true colors you were too blinded to see before.
Your captivated by your own power.
The power you held all along, was finally released.

You put the bottle of wine away.
You clean your apartment, feed your fish.
Feeling as if that pain was never there.
The power was yours always, but blind sided by love impacted you in the worst way.
