One More Chance

One More Chance

A Poem by Black_Oxygen

ONE MORE CHANCE

A worthy achievement may allow only one chance

Mediocrity calls often as greatness makes you wait

Average is as repetitive as everything special is rare

Discovery uses all of your persistence, luck, and fate

I give unto you this testament as reason to persevere

To rhythms of love, I once lacked the desire to dance

 Disappointments and betrayal distrust opportunities

Broken hearts will not give a mallet another chance

A fantastic event occurred that took me by surprise

Something gigantic began with just a single glance

The test of time has caused every fiber to multiply

With valid reasons to give love one more chance

One more chance to let loose the full capacity of my heart and brain
Exposing the nerves that determine pleasure, but also the most pain

One more chance to focus my energy onto the benefits of the relation
Living the oaths of loyalty with actions that I'm here for the duration

Acceptance and faithfulness entrust possibilities

I hurled caution to the wind and lowered my guard

My chin’s unprotected for the final knock-out punch

I have no regrets, because I’ve fallen for you … HARD

I extend to you my hand and request one more dance

Every spin feels correct and not one step feels wrong

Past and present combine to create tomorrow’s hymn

The duet which we’ll sing to a future playing our song
